Department of Microbiology
The Department of Microbiology at JSPM’s RSCSC, popularly known as “Micro,” is one of the pioneering departments in the field. Affiliated with Savitribai Phule Pune University, the department offers an Undergraduate (B.Sc. Honors) Course for the academic year 2024, with an intake capacity of 120 students.
The curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in core microbiological concepts, with practical insights into biotechnology, medicine, food microbiology, nanoscience, healthcare, and environmental science.
Microbiology is a dynamic and rewarding field that connects with all natural sciences, offering diverse opportunities to improve human life. Students explore both cellular and acellular microscopic organisms, gaining expertise in areas such as gene structure, disease control, and the biochemical abilities of microorganisms to decompose and synthesize complex organic compounds.
